Amritsar civic body warns Gammon in elevated road project

A strict warning was been issued to the construction company, which also handled the Delhi metro project, asking it not to compromise with the quality of material.

In the wake of the under-bridge collapse on the Delhi Metro project site, the Amritsar Municipal Corporation has warned construction company, Gammon India,  against compromising with the quality of material in construction of 3.25km elevated road project worth Rs173 crore, in the city .
 
The municipal corporation commissioner, DPS Kharbanda said that a strict warning was been issued to the construction company, which also handled the Delhi metro project, asking it not to compromise with the quality of material. He said that the service of a reputed consultancy of private company has also been listed to check the construction work.
 
The elevated road has been under construction in the city for the last three years to facilitate visiting devotees to reach the Golden Temple without facing traffic hurdles. The prestigious project is now nearing completion and would be thrown open to the public by the end of this year, said Kharbanda.
 
He added that the entire construction would be thoroughly checked and counter checked by a team of experts, which would also examine the designing of the bridge keeping in view the safety of the people.
