The citizens having dinner at the restaurants were surprised to see civic body health officials raiding the eatery.
The officials raided restaurants located at Subash Bridge Circle and Paldi Circle. “At some places, we found the kitchen unhygienic and the owner had not maintained cleanliness in and around the restaurant as well. Because of not following the sanitation and hygiene norms, we charged administrative charges and served notices to the restaurant owners,” said Bhavin Solanki, deputy health officer of West zone at AMC.
He added that the officials also checked whether each restaurant has a proper garbage disposal system. The civic body officials collected a total fine of Rs10,700 from the restaurant owners.
The officials, on Friday evening, conducted a health raid on the bhajiyawalas in Vasna area. “There exist many vendors who make bhajiyas alongside the road. We raided such shops and found that there was no hygiene in and around them. Apart from charging fine, we also educated the vendors on how to maintain cleanliness around their shops.”
The officials distributed garbage drums to the small vendors and also charged a fine of Rs,4,550 from them.
Meanwhile, the estate officials of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) on Thursday demolished an illegal construction in Kali ward of New west zone of the city. The illegal construction was of residential nature measuring 200 sq ft.
To recover property tax, the officials of AMC on Thursday also sealed 274 commercial properties of the city, maximum of which were from East zone with 79 properties. Also, 55 properties in Central zone, 60 in North zone, 31 in South zone and 49 in New W zone were sealed.
