The health department of the AMC has organised camps in several parts of the city to screen people for the H1N1 infection. Around 3,000 people are being screened every day in the city, an AMC official said.

The health department has screened around 26,000 people in the city. It has, moreover, written letters to the administrative officers of the Municipal School Board as well as the district education officer regarding warning schools about students travelling or returning from abroad.

The health department has distributed pamphlets to create awareness about swine flu among students, showing them ways of avoiding an infection. The civic body has also erected 15 billboards in different parts of the city, printed 130 banners and posted 6,800 posters on swine flu. Over 2.25 lakh pamphlets on awareness of swine flu have been distributed, the AMC official said.

The health department is providing regular doses of Tamiflu, which is used to treat the H1N1 infection, to those tested positive and is keeping in touch with them either through personal visits or by telephone. The civic body has distributed more than 5,000 Tamiflu tablets in the city.

The AMC has kept 30 beds ready in isolation wards at the VS, Shardaben and LG hospitals and has created OPD services at all the three hospitals it runs in the city, the official said. “We have created isolation wards at LG and Shardaben hospitals in case that at VS hospital, which has 15 beds, runs short,” the AMC official said.
