Amar Singh wants a separate state

Former Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh is going on a padyatra of Purvanchal carved out of eastern UP. He made the announcement here on Monday. 

The padyatra is aimed at mobilising support for carving out a new Purvanchal state out of UP, Amar Singh said, adding that Bollywood actors Sanjay Dutt, Jaya Prada and Bhojpuri actor Manoj Tiwari would also accompany him.

Addressing his first press conference since his expulsion from SP, Amar Singh said that his non-political forum Lok Manch would convert into a political outfit at an “appropriate” time.
