Amar's expulsion internal matter of SP: Congress

The Congress today described the expulsion of Amar Singh from Samajwadi Party as its "internal matter" and said what the SP does with its MPs is entirely its prerogative.
   
"Congress has nothing to do with it or comment on it. What the SP does with its MPs is entirely its prerogative," Congress spokesperson Manish Tiwari said here.
   
He said, "The clash between supporters of socialist orientation and overtly capitalist disposition was bound to manifest itself one way or the other."
   
Another senior Congress leader Satyavrat Chaturvedi, a known critic of Amar Singh, ruled out any possibility of the former SP leader joining the party.
   
"Congress is not a waste paper basket," Chaturvedi, who is also a Rajya Sabha MP, told PTI.
   
AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh said in Lucknow that the expelled SP leader has not approached the party so far.
   
"Amar Singh has not approached the party so far. Let him approach first," he told reporters when asked about the possibility of his joining Congress.
   
He said there was a set procedure for joining Congress in the case of sitting MPs, MLAs and former members.
