The saffron brigade is up in arms against Congress for allegedly trying to name top BJP leader and Gorakhpur MP Yogi Adityanath in the Ajmer blast case. Three people were killed and 15 injured in the blast on the premises of the Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti dargah in 2007.

The Rajasthan anti-terror squad (ATS) filed a charge sheet in the case before chief judicial magistrate, Ajmer, on Tuesday. It claimed that the name and phone number of RSS spokesman Ram Madhav were found in a diary seized from accused Sunil Joshi.

ATS has also charge-sheeted senior RSS leader Indresh Kumar in the case.

Sources said Adityanath’s name and phone number were also found in the same diary.

This had been mentioned in the ATS charge sheet, they claimed.
Sunil Joshi, a well-known Hindutva hardliner based in Indore, was murdered a few years ago. His name came up in investigations into the Ajmer blast as well as 2007’s Mecca Masjid blast in Hyderabad in which nine people were killed.

BJP, VHP and RSS are alleging it is a “Congress plot” to taint Adityanath, who is also the mahant (chief priest) of the famous Gorakhnath Temple of Gorakhpur. The yogi’s influence as a powerful Hindutva is throughout eastern Uttar Pradesh and even extends to neighbouring Nepal.

“If my name has figured anywhere, I am willing to face inquiry. But if they [investigating authorities] work as Congress agents to defame Hindu organisations, they will get insulted themselves,” the fiery BJP MP told reporters.

He said the Congress regime in Rajasthan was apparently working at the instance of the party high command in this matter.

“The Congress-led government at the Centre is playing a dangerous game to appease minorities,” he said.

“This is a conspiracy to insult the Hindu community,” senior VHP leader Ram Vilas Vedanti said.

“Congress should desist from hatching such plots… sant samaj throughout the country is with the yogi… Congress will have to face consequences if it does not give up its disgusting tactics,” he said.
