The Vejalpur police have arrested a man under the Bombay Prohibitive Activities (BP) Act, who turned out to be a murderer and confessed to two murders and 23 house-breaks. He has readily confessed to all these crimes, as he wants to now lead a 'clean' life after serving his term of imprisonment, police said.

Ajay alias Harising Thakur, was caught last week. During interrogation, he said that he had committed two murders. In the shocking revelation, he said that he had killed one old lady, Heera Chorai, on August 11, 2005 in Lotus Apartment in Usmanpura.

During interrogation, Ajay revealed that “it was a contract killing.” He said that he had gone to the apartment with the intention of committing loot. However, his elder brother, who was known as ‘spiderman’ because of his style of committing robberies, had accepted a contract to eliminate the woman in a property dispute.

“We have informed the Naranpura police station where the case is registered for further investigation,” said MC Patel, police inspector, Vejalpur.

Thakur's elder brother Vijay was involved in the Chandrika murder case and is facing trial for several house-breaking cases and three murders. He had earned the nickname 'spiderman' for his mode of functioning.

In another revelation, Thakur confessed that when they had set off to rob at Walkesh Society in Ellisbridge, they had killed a senior citizen by stabbing her. “While disclosing the second murder, he has said that he and his accomplices did not intend to kill her, but they had to when she fought them. We have given this information to the Ellisbridge police for further investigation,” said Patel.

“Apart from the two murders, he has confessed to 23 cases of house-break out of which, interestingly, only 10 have been registered, whereas in the rest of the cases, the victims failed to register their cases,” Patel added.
