Aids claims over 1,000 lives in UP in one year

As many as 1,039 people have died of Aids in Uttar Pradesh in the last one year, health minister Anant Kumar Singh informed the state assembly today.

He said in a written reply that though there is no separate scheme under consideration of the state government for Aids-afflicted persons, it has adopted the Centre's programmes to control the disease.

The minister said all the ten medical colleges in the state have Aids testing facilities.
