The much-awaited AICC reshuffle appears to have been put on the back-burner in view of organisational elections, the process for which starts early next year.

The reshuffle, expected soon after the Lok Sabha elections following induction of some general secretaries as ministers, was postponed till the assembly elections in Maharashtra and Haryana.

Though these elections have been completed and Congress emerged victorious, there are no signs of any reshuffle and the party leaders are tight-lipped on the issue.

Now the talk in the party headquarters is that the reshuffle, including possible changes in some PCC, might have been deferred.

Four party general secretaries were inducted into the union council of ministers after the government assumed office, as a result of which they were left with little time to concentrate on party work.

AICC general secretaries Ghulam Nabi Azad, Mukul Wasnik, Prithviraj Chavan and V Narayanasami were inducted in the Manmohan Singh Cabinet and still hold dual charges as ministers and party office-bearers.

Soon after the AICC general secretaries were made ministers, another party general secretary Janardan Dwivedi had hinted that a reshuffle could be carried out shortly.  In addition to the general secretaries, some cabinet ministers hold dual charges as PCC chiefs and party in-charge of states.

While finance minister Pranab Mukherjee is the West Bengal PCC chief, Union minister CP Joshi is heads the party's Rajasthan unit.

Another Union minister M Veerappa Moily is the party in-charge of Andhra Pradesh while defence minister AK Antony looks after Maharashtra.

The party has held that "in principle" it favours the one-person-one-post formula but there could be some exceptions.
