As Anna Hazare observed a day-long token fast at Jantar Mantar in Delhi to press for a strong Lokpal Bill on Sunday, the city — like other parts across the country — witnessed rallies and marches in support of Anna. UVA Azadi organised a maha rally in support of Anna's fresh demands from the government for passage of the Lokpal bill.

The maha rally was carried out from Income Tax circle to Gandhi Ashram, in which  around 100 supporters holding banners and the Tricolour took part. At the end of the rally   at Gandhi Ashram, the participants observed silence for five minutes, praying for the corrupt politicians.

Convener of UVA Azadi, Manish Brahmbhatt, said: "We organised this rally in support of Anna Hazare. Annaji has warned the government that if no action is taken by December 27, then a nationwide agitation will take off, the way it was done by Bhagat Singh, Shivaji and Subhash Chandra Bose. We will have to do 'gherao' of the concerned to pressurise the government."
In the evening, a candlelight march was carried near Vastrapur Lake.

Brahmbhatt said that if the demands were not met, then the Congress party will be boycotted in the elections in Gujarat and some other states.
