Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation removes 2,122 tonne of solid waste

The civic body also sprinkles 20,093 kg of insecticides after the heavy downpour.

After the sudden downpour since Friday evening, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) is working overtime to ensure that the city remains clean. The health workers removed 2,122 tonne of solid waste till Saturday afternoon.

The AMC officials also sprinkled around 20,093 kg of insecticides on roads and garbage bins to prevent spread of infection. Around 8,674 health workers have been pressed into service to clean up the city following the rains. After a survey of the city, the civic body had identified around 850 spots that needed to be cleaned urgently. Around 348 vehicles are being used to clean the six zones of city.

On Friday evening, the central zone received the highest rainfall of 44 mm.

The New West Zone,  received the lowest rainfall at 14 mm. City registered 972.69 mm of rainfall.  The control room, meanwhile, received one complaint  related to a crater in the east zone. A house in Astodia collapsed due to the rain.
