Ahmedabad Corporation seals 225 units over property tax default

Many proprietors of the city woke up to a rude shock on Monday morning when officials of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation
(AMC) sealed their properties for not paying property tax. As many as 225 commercial properties of the city were sealed by the civic body on Monday.

The campaign of sealing the properties by AMC began on October 1 on a strict note to recover the property tax from commercial properties. On Monday, out of the 225 properties sealed, a majority of them were from east zone with 64 commercial properties, followed by west zone with 52 business units.

Similarly, the new west zone witnessed sealing of 39 properties, central zone 32, north zone 36 and south zone 32.

In the last 10 days, the civic body has sealed around 1,138 commercial properties for recovery of tax. On October 3, 268 units were sealed.

So far the zone to witness maximum sealing of commercial properties is east zone with 315 properties.

On the other hand, north zone has had the least number of properties sealed in these 10 days.
