Adulterated tea manufacturing unit unearthed in Orissa

An adulterated dust tea manufacturing unit was unearthed in Badabazar locality here today, police said.
   
The impure dust tea manufacturing unit was operating under the name of a popular brand by one Balaji Patra who was allegedly mixing wood dust in the product, police said.
   
During the raid, several quantities of empty packets of a particular brand of tea, packaging and sewing machines besides tea were seized from the house.
   
However, ingredients of the product could be known after laboratory test, he said.
   
The matter came to light after officials of the affected company lodged a complaint with the police in the wake of drastic fall in the sale of their product.
   
Police suspected that the adulterated tea was being made for last several months and its supply restricted in Ganjam district, mostly in rural areas.
