Over 250 people led by activist Aruna Roy today courted arrest demanding the release of rights activist Binayak Sen, sentenced to life on charges of sedition.
Speaking at the public meeting at Gandhi Circle in Jaipur, Roy said, "Sen's imprisonment is similar to one of the fascist ways of Nazis where all dissent was denied and people started living in fear."
The group, comprising students, workers and trade unionists, also demanded scrapping of the sedition law.
Pawan Surana, former chairperson of State Women's Commission, Dalit leader Tek Chand, president of Bhagwan Mahavir Viklang Sahayta Samiti DR Mehta were among others present at the event coordinated by PUCL-RAJ unit.
