Accused sets herself on fire inside jail in Assam

A murder accused and a woman guard were seriously injured when the former set herself on fire in Morigaon Central Jail today, police said.

The accused, Saruaiti Das, set herself ablaze with a lamp lighted during morning puja inside the jail while the home guard on duty, Phuleswar Basumatary was injured when she tried to douse the fire.
   
Das and Basumatary were shifted to Guwahati Medical College Hospital in a critical condition.
