6-year-old boy dies as thatched house catches fire in Gujarat

Currency notes worth Rs15,000 and foodgrain stocks were also destroyed in the fire. The damage due to the fire is estimated at Rs3 lakh.

A six-year-old boy Pratap Vaghela was burnt alive in a fire yesterday that broke out in his house in Karmel village of Fatehpura taluk in the neighbouring Dohad district, about 160km from Vadodara, a delayed report reaching here said today.

He was alone in the house when the fire mishap took place. His parents and other members of the family were working in the field.

The fire spread rapidly due to the grass that was thatched on the house.

The body of the boy was sent to the Primary Health Centre at Fatehpura.

Currency notes worth Rs15,000 and foodgrain stocks were also destroyed in the fire. The damage due to the fire is estimated at Rs3 lakh, said Homji Vaghela, owner of the house.
