3 detained for helping Suchitra Mahato's escape

The Joint Forces today detained a fake doctor and two local young men for alleged treatment of an injured Suchitra Mahato, accomplice of slain Maoist leader Kishenji, and had also helped her to escape.

The Joint Forces today detained a fake doctor and two local young men for alleged treatment of an injured Suchitra Mahato, accomplice of slain Maoist leader Kishenji, and had also helped her to escape.

The police said that the security forces detained Bhudeb Mahato, a quack, and two local youths from Benasuli village, close to the Burisole forest, the scene of last Friday's fierce encounter in which Kishenji was killed.

According to the police, the security forces were interrogating Bhudeb Mahato on his alleged treatment of Suchitra Mahato, who was stated to be with Kishenji during the encounter and later fled the area, and also the two detained youths from Benasuli village for helping her escape.

The forces have been searching for Suchitra since last Friday in the jungles of West Midnapore district.
