3-day Dangs Darbar kicks off In Gujarat

The annual three-day festival of Dangs - the Dangs Darbar - organised to of honour and hand over annual pension to erstwhile kings was held at Ahwa on Sunday. Governor of Gujarat, Dr Kamla handed over annual pension to five erstwhile kings and their subjects, during the function.

The governor handed over Rs2.96 lakh to five kings and Rs16.99 lakh as pension to 476 subjects, in the function.

The five kings include Kiransinh Powar of Gadhvi, Dhanrajsinh Suryavanshi of Vasurna, Tapatrao Powar of Daher, Bhawarsinh Hasusinh of Linga and Trikamrao Powar of Pimpri. King of Gadhvi was handed over a cheque of Rs76,330 as annual pension by the governor, while Daher king got Rs51,965. The kings of Linga, Vasurna and Pimpri got Rs57634, Rs62474 and Rs46750 respectively.

Speaking at the occasion, governor said that Dangs has always been successful in preserving its ancient tradition and honouring the erstwhile kings is a proof of this tradition.
