A Delhi Court hearing the 2G spectrum scam today said there was a need for maintaining selfrestrain by both media and accused whose lawyers wilfully give sound bites and information about the proceedings.

The court's remarks came while dealing with the application of Swan Telecom promoter Shahid Usman Balwa who had alleged that media was reporting the court proceedings out of context.

Special CBI judge O P Saini said there was also a need for maintaining self restraint by those who are making complaint against the media.

"I do not wish to add anything more, except that self restraint is a great virtue which may be practised and excercised by all concerned, including those who expect it from others," the judge said.

Balwa, through his counsel Vijay Aggarwal had filed an application seeking a direction for media to restrain from reporting the matter out of context.

The development assumes importance as Balwa had retracted from his submission in the court seeking a direction for making Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as a witness in the case after the court proceeding in this regard was widely published.

His counsel had complained that the proceeding was reported out of context.
