The plea of Unitech Ltd Managing Director Sanjay Chandra, facing trial for his alleged role in the 2G spectrum allocation case, to go abroad for treatment of his 9-year-old son, was dismissed today by a Delhi court.

"Your application is dismissed," Special CBI Judge O P Saini said, turning down Chandra plea to go abroad for treatment of his son, diagnosed as suffering from diabetes.

Chandra had sought permission to go abroad between December 24 and 29 during court's winter vacations saying the doctor has given him appointment for December 27.

CBI, however, had opposed the plea saying probe regarding the money trail in the 2G case was still on.

"The probe in the case is being looked by two agencies, the CBI and Enforcement Directorate (ED). Investigation related to money trail in the 2G scam is still going on. ED had sent  Letters Rogatory to its counterparts in Singapore and the agency is yet to receive the reply from them," Special Public Prosecutor U U Lalit had said.

He, however, had added that it was a "difficult task" for him and he felt sorry at the health condition of Chandra's son.

Senior advocate R S Cheema, appearing for Chandra, had said this was a case where opposition of his request was not justified and on humanitarian ground, the court could consider it.
