206 cops sacked in Uttar Pradesh in 2009

The state DGP had issued directives to all district police chiefs to initiate legal action against policemen found involved in malpractices.

The Uttar Pradesh government has dismissed 206 policemen allegedly involved in corruption and other malpractices in 2009 while placing 4,220 others under suspension.
     
ADG (law and order) Brij Lal today said the dismissed included two inspectors and 15 sub-inspectors. There were 49 inspectors and 817 sub-inspectors in the list of those suspended.
     
He said the state DGP had issued directives to all district police chiefs to initiate legal action against policemen found involved in malpractices.
