Terming the union budget as 'directionless', opposition RJD today said it was anti-poor and anti-farmer that would make the prices of commodities 'shoot through the roof'.

'Both Pranab Mukherjee and Mamata Banerjee have failed the people, particularly that of Bihar,'' deputy leader of the Opposition in Bihar assembly and RJD spokesman for the state Shakeel Ahmed Khan told reporters here and added that the
party would intensify its agitation against price rise.

Khan said while prices of petroleum products had stabilised in the international market, the Centre had increased the prices of petrol and disel, which would affect prices of commodities.

He also lambasted the Centre for denying special package for rehabilitation of flood ravaged Kosi region while sanctioning special assistance to Bundelkhand to fight drought.

The RJD leader also flayed the Bihar budget presented by deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi and termed it as 'discouraging'.

Modi's claims in the budget that Bihar had recorded a growth rate of 11.03 per cent in the previous fiscal was 'nothing else but fudging of figures', he added.
