An 11-year-old boy was brought to the Kagdapith police station on Monday night after he escaped his hostel in Gandhinagar, alleging to have been sodomised by a hostel staff. Although the police refused to reveal the exact details of the boy's statement, a source told DNA that the boy complained of having been sodomised by a hostel staff. The source, however, refused to reveal the name of the person.

The victim, who had been admitted to the hostel for the last 30 days, had fled on Sunday afternoon for his village in Dahod. "He took a ST bus from Gandhinagar and reached the bus stand at Geeta Mandi," a police source said. A concerned citizen, Gaurav, spotted the boy crying inconsolably and asked him about his identity, but failed to get a response. The boy did not have even a rupee in his pocket; Gaurav later handed him over to the Kagdapith police.

It was during interrogation that the police found that the boy had fled from his hostel because he was sexually harassed and reportedly sodomised by a hostel staff. The boy, however, did not reveal any names to the police.

However, HA Mahuvadia, the Kagdapith PSI who tried to place the kid to his family, did not confirm the sodomy charges. "He fled because he did not like the hostel and was facing some problems," he said. The boy's family was found out after Mahuvadia informed the Dahod control room and contacted his relatives.

Mahuvadia also had to face the wrath of the senior police inspector RG Patel for not informing the hostel authority before handing over the boy to his parents.  But the issue was settled after the deputy commissioner of police, Zone 6, Sachin Badshah, intervened.

The boy was later on united with his family when Mahuvadia informed the Dahod control room and contacted his relatives. However, Mahuvadia was to face the irk of senior police inspector of Kagdapith police RG Patel for not informing the hostel authority and handing over the boy's custody to his parents.
