10 sugar mills in Muzaffarnagar to close operations over next 2 months

As many as ten sugar mills in the district will shut down operations over the next two months due to shortage of sugarcane for crushing.

The mills that will close operations are Thanabhawan, Khaikheri,  Khatoli, Bhasani, Morna, Unn Tikola, Shamli, Titawi and Mansurpur, district cane officer  VK Shukla  told reporters here.
    
Thanabhawan, Khaikheri mills will shut down on March,20, Khatoli, Bhasani and Morna on March 31, Unn on March 25, Tikola on April,8 while Shamli , Titawi and Mansurpur on  April 10.

The district has produced 44.60 lakhs tonnes of sugar up to February 25. Last year in the same period  mills produced 41.99 lakh quintals.
