1 more arrested for hooch deaths

Ahmedabad Crime Branch has arrested Rakesh Giri (31) allegedly for providing methyl alcohol to Vinod Chauhan alias Dagri. Rakesh, nephew of Subhash Giri, was arrested from his Vadodara residence and will be produced in court on Friday with police seeking his remand.

Rakesh is allegedly connected to illegal trade of chemicals in Gujarat and came into contact with Dagri through his uncle Subhash.

Rakesh was earlier arrested in connection with a loot case in 2002. Later he was arrested for chemical theft in 2007 along with Jayesh Thakkar.

Rakesh's arrest has taken the number of people arrested in connection with the hooch deaths to 26. Police are expecting arrest of more chemical thieves and bootleggers in this connection.
