Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday took a dig at Congress President Rahul Gandhi stating that as long as he was at the helm of the grand old party, the BJP would continue winning elections

Addressing a press conference, the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister said that the BJP career graph took an upward turn after Rahul Gandhi assumed leadership in the Congress and starting campaigning for the party. "With Rahul around, BJP will continue its winning spree," he said.

“He makes BJP win wherever he campaigns for the Congress. We had wrested ten states when he was Vice-President and won five after he was elevated as the President. BJP’s wining spree will continue till he remains in the Congress,” said Adityanath.

The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister also credit Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President Amit Shah for leading the party to victory in 17 out of the 20 states. Hailing PM Modi’s inclusive development plan, Adityanath added that Shah’s strategy to press all union ministers to campaign in the northeast was a master stroke.

“We had not even opened our account in 2013 Assembly polls in Tripura. But PM Modi and Shahji made lotus bloom in Tripura, Nagaland and Meghalaya. The victory was indeed historical for the party,” said he.

“The BJP’s development mantra of ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikaas’ paid rich dividend in North-Eastern states which remained under developed under long rules of the Left and the Congress . The victory has proved beyond doubt that people will only vote for a party which takes forward the development agenda,” he added.

The Chief Minister hoped that results in the three states will certainly impact forthcoming polls in Karnataka, Kerala, West Bengal and Odisha and pave way for BJP win there too.

On BSP’s support to the Samajwadi Party in by-polls, the Chief Minister said that the two parties are poles apart and their alliance could never be successful. “We will win both Lok Sabha by-poll seats with huge margin even if all opposition come together against the BJP,” he added.
