With PM Modi campaigning in Varanasi for the second day at a trot, his detractors have started raising questions about whether BJP is wary of faring poorly in the holy city. PM Modi, who is a Member of the Parliament from Varanasi, is leaving nothing to chance as he is campaigning rigorously for the last leg of the gruelling Uttar Pradesh assembly elections that have been going on for over a month now.
But his all-out effort to influence voters is not going down well with his political detractors. BJP leader Shatrughan Sinha, who has often spoken out against the PM, has taken a dig at Modi and called him 'desperate' for doing a roadshow.
He said,

Former J&K CM Omar Abdullah too has raised questions regarding Modi's roadhsow.
He tweeted:
Two days of campaigning in his own constituency. Should we be reading more in to this than just the PM enjoying being on the campaign trail? https://t.co/Dr2sj6gUnT

Union Minister Upendra Kushwaha on Saturday took exception to Prime Minister Narendra Modi holding a road show, saying it is not appropriate for his high office and he should address rallies only. "I will like to tell my friends in the BJP that it is not appropriate for a Prime Minister to hold a road show. It is proper for a PM to hold rallies but not a road show," Kushwaha, who is the chief of the Rashtriya Lok Samta Party, a BJP ally, said in a statement.
SP leader Azam Khan too has mocked Modi for doing such extensive campaigning. A day after the Prime Minister held a road show in his constituency, the UP minister charged that the "entire Union government has been shifted to that city and Varanasi has been virtually transformed into the capital of the country".
"The Prime Minister has been camping in Varanasi as if he happens to be a nukkad neta (a leader addressing corner meetings)," Khan, who is known for making controversial remarks against the Prime Minister, told reporters.
