Vijay Rupani began his second inning as Gujarat Chief Minister at a grand swearing-in ceremony in capital city Gandhinagar on Tuesday.

The lavish event, which was organised at Gandhinagar Sachivalaya Ground, saw host of VVIP guests including 18 BJP Chief Ministers, party president Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Here are 10 major updates from this big political story:

1: Rupani, 61, and his deputy Nitin Patel were administered the oath of office and secrecy by Governor O P Kohli at a grand ceremony in Gandhinagar. Ahead of the swearing-in ceremony, Rupani visited Gandhinagar's Panchdev temple and Akshardham temple in morning.

2: The chief ministers of other BJP-ruled states - Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje Scindia and Chhattisgarh CM Raman Singh, along with former Gujarat chief ministers - Keshubhai Patel and Shankersinh Vaghela, were also present at the ceremony. First meeting of newly-elected Gujarat cabinet will be held on Wednesday at 10 am in Gandhinagar.

3: Leaders who took oath as ministers of state are: Pradipsinh Bhagvatsinh Jadeja, Patel Parbatbhai Savabhai, Jaydrathsinhji Parmer, Patkar Ramanlal Nanubhai, Parsottambhai Odhavjibhai Solanki, Ishwarsinh Thakorbhai Patel, Ahiur Vasanbhai Gopalbhai, Kishor Kanani (Kumar), Khabad Bachubhai Maganbhai, Dave Vaibhavari.

4: Union Ministers Ravi Shankar Prasad, Nitin Gadkari, Rajnath Singh and Ram Vilas Paswan and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also attended the ceremony.

5: The names of the cabinet ministers in Rupani government are: Nitinkumar Ratilal Patel, Bhupendrasinh Manubha Chudasama, Ranchhodbhai Chanabhai Faidu, Kaushikbhai Jamanadas Patel, Saurabh Patel, Vasava Ganpatsinh Vestabhai, Radadiya Jayeshbhai Vittalbhai, Dilipkumar Viraji Thakor and Ishwarbhai Ramabhai Parmer.

6: Entry of private vehicles was restricted in the Sachivalaya due to the swearing-in ceremony.

7: Rupani, Patel and other ministers had on December 21 submitted their resignation to Governor Kohli, days after the BJP registered a victory in the Gujarat assembly elections.

8: Rupani secured a comfortable win from Rajkot West seat by 1,31,586 votes, which is the largest constituency in the Saurashtra region.

9: This is the sixth consecutive time that BJP is forming government in Gujarat, but this time with the lowest seat tally.

10: The party won 99 seats in the just concluded assembly elections, just seven more than the half-way mark of 92. On the other hand, Congress increased its tally to 77 seats, its best performance since 1990.
