Atal Bihari Vajpayee was far more mature, wiser as compared to PM Narendra Modi: NCP leader Majeed Memon

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Majeed Memon on Sunday described former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee as far more mature and wiser vis-à-vis Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"If you compare Narendra Modiji with Atalji, then I would definitely say that distinctly Atalji was far more mature, visionary person, plus he was very rational and never distinguished between Hindu or Muslims. His endeavour to improve relationship between India and Pakistan definitely was far more wiser and far more mature," Memon said while reacting on PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed suggesting Prime Minister Narendra Modi to adopt former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's strategy to solve the Kashmir issue and end enmity with Pakistan.

"Atalji in fact was very keen that India -Pakistan should come closer; unfortunately it could not materialize, but today we are finding that the atmosphere is slightly changed, now we find that all the moves are centered around distinction between two major communities which is not in the best interest of either India or Pakistan," he added.

Congress leader Rashid Alvi on his part said the Kashmir issue should be resolved by taking the people of the state into confidence.

"Kashmir issue is a very sensitive one and this should be resolved by taking the people of Kashmir into confidence. Kashmir is an integral part of this country and that cannot be ignored," Alvi said.
