The principal of a convent school in Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh was abducted and murdered on Friday when his family members failed to pay ransom of Rs 2 lakh.

Sanjeev Kumar, the SHO Badgaon Police Station, said that Subhash Kashyap, Principal and owner of Paramount Convent School, was abducted on Thursday night by four unidentified persons when he was returning to his village Baalu Majra on a motorcycle at around 9 pm.

When he did not return home, his family members launched a search. Meanwhile, they received a call from the mobile of the Principal. Some unknown person told that they have kidnapped Kashyap and threatened to kill him if they did not pay a ransom of Rs 2 lakh for securing his release.

Family members rushed the Badgaon Police Station to lodge and FIR after receiving the ransom call. “We immediately launched a search operation and traced his mobile location in Monga jungles on Muzaffarnagar-Saharanpur border. We recovered his bullet-riddled body from there at around 4 am on Friday,” said the SHO.

The Police also recovered two motorcycles of kidnappers along with mobike of the Principal from the murder site. A case has been registered and body has been sent for the post mortem examination.

What has baffled the police is why kidnappers shot the Principal in less than six hours without waiting to collect the ransom money. It seems that kidnappers shot the Principal when he identified them.

Ironically, the crime was committed at a time when heavy security force is posted in Muzaffarnagar and Saharanpur due to ongoing 'Kaanvar Yatra' in the holy month of Shravan.

The SHO said that the detail of owners of the two motorcycles, recovered from the murder site, has been sought from the RTO. “Besides murder for ransom, we are working on all possible angles. The police have got vital leads and killers will be arrested soon” said the SHO.
