Fans of gaming worldwide have been waiting with bated breaths for this week with more details being revealed about Xbox-One and the PlayStation-4 (PS4) at the Electronic Entertainment Expo held in California. And while both consoles come boasting a plethora of new features and exclusive games, only one is sure to emerge truly victorious in the active gaming market in India.

Anyone who scours the highly combustive gaming fora online would know one of the biggest cause for battles between two anonymous strangers in the internet is the fight over which platform offers better gaming experience — the Xbox or the Ps4.

According to Navin Rajendran, the founder and CEO of Gamineazy Entertainment Pvt. Ltd.

an innovative Bangalore-based gaming company, the winner for now seems to clearly be the PS4.

“In India, at least the PlayStation community is much larger than the XBox and for a country like India the pricing plays a big role as the PS4 is priced at $399 dollars and the Xbox-One is priced at $499. Also another thing working against the Xbox-One is the fact that it will be coming to India only in 2014 whereas PS4 will be here in November,” he says.

Another problem that the Xbox-One is likely to face is the fact the console does not allow people to lend games and buy used games.

“The games are expensive and when it comes to PS4 you can trade games and people can play used games on their consoles. When it comes to Xbox-One, the rules of lending are literally non-existent,” he says.

That means when it comes to an Xbox game, you can only give to someone who has been on your friends’ list on the website for more than 30 days and the game can be lent only once.

And finally, the biggest problem facing Xbox-One is the issue of internet connectivity. The Xbox-One allows players to play offline for a period of 24 hours.

“Especially in India we don’t have continuous internet connection, so that will definitely be a problem because offline gaming is possible in PS4. Hopefully the people behind Xbox will rethink this,” he adds.

However, Rajendran points out that Xbox-One’s Kinect-2 comes with its own plus points especially when it comes to motion gaming. “There will no longer be any time lags and the console can actually even monitor your heart rate, so there are many titles and games that can be developed in that sense,” he offers.

And while people continue to bicker over Xbox-One and PS4 in the months to come, one thing is for sure — everyone has all but forgotten the ugly cousin called WII Nintendo U.
