Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray on Wednesday instructed his partymen not to blindly support the BJP-led government in Maharashtra.
Asking all Shiv Sena MLAs to be present for the Legislative Assembly session, Thackeray said the party must take up the issue of the land acquisition bill, even if they lack power to change things. Thackeray said the Shiv Sena must find out how much land had been taken over by the government. He said the party must also assess whether infrastructural projects had been started on this land and whether the affected farmers had been provided adequate compensation and rehabilitation.
Thackeray advised his party to help farmers whose crops had been affected by drought and unseasonal rainfall, which occured in Maharashtra over the last few days.
The Sena chief also said that his party would on Wednesday send a letter to the Narendra Modi-led central government against the land acquisition act.
