With state elections in Maharashtra and Haryana coming up soon, the social media space is buzz with people expressing their views on the political situation. PM Narendra Modi is usually a trending topic on social media, but rarely is he more criticised there than he is praised.
On Saturday however, critics of the PM took to Twitter to make #JhootheDin trend, even as he undertook several election rallies. #JhootheDin is a parody of the BJP's pre-Lok Sabha elections slogan of "Achche Din aane wale hain". '
Thank You ISRO' begins it all:
Modi before election: Speeches 24*7 and no action Modi after election: Speeches 24*7 and no action #JhootheDin

Here's a very caustic opinion of Modi's visit to Mumbai:

I am not sure this can be called 'learning':

Mr Sandeep Sharma resorted to jokes:
Reporter in Japan: What do you think about Modi's slogan of 'Make in India'. Japanese: Its stolen from "Made in Japan". #JhootheDin

Devdatta's argument is a more logical one:
With responsible leader #NaMo there should be responsible team. #Pune lacks that leadership. No development since #elections. #JhootheDin
— Devdatta Puntambekar (@devdatta13) October 4, 2014
Sarcasm mixed with advice tastes like this:
Modi takes a pause in his speeches for applause. Please work for the country so dat dey can actually give u an applause #JhootheDin
— Mihir Padhye (@mihir_padhye) October 4, 2014
An interesting question:
How many manifesto promises fulfilled till now BJP? Can any Bhakt tell me? #JhootheDin
— Aditya Pawar (@zipida) October 4, 2014
Simple and to the point:
Modi ji thanks for #JhootheDin

But some Twitter users can't keep away from wild allegations:
In Gujrat, Teachers, Police and most of Govt employees gets salary of just 5300/Month, For first 5 yrs. #GujaratModel #JhootheDin

Some guy calls Modi out on Haryana's per capita income figures:

Here's some bald humour:

Here's yet another perspective:
After listening Modi ji one thing is clear; #BJP is nothing without #Modi.. His speeches contains only 'Main hi main hun' effect #JhootheDin
— Dr. Mugdha Singh (@IMMugdhaSingh) October 4, 2014
Finally, a matter-of-fact observation:
15thAug-Speech. Teachers day-Speech. MangalYaan-Speech. USA-Speech. 2nd Oct-speech. Corruption, Intrusion, Riots, Inflation-Chup #JhootheDin
— PARAS (@IStandWithAAP) October 4, 2014
This last tweet perfectly summarises the emotion behind #JhootheDin:
I like that #JhootheDin is trending. Atleast some of us on twitter willing to tell the truth! Oh & I totally see potential in #YoPMsoFEKU ;)

Narendra Modi's legion of fans still outstrip his critics by far on social media, but it is interesting to note how the mood seems to be subtly changing. One could not have dreamed of such a tag trending before the Lok Sabha elections and even immediately after. So is the Narendra Modi wave really over?
