Teenage Nepali girl gang raped in South Delhi

A teenage girl from Nepal, who worked as a domestic help in Haryana and brought here on the pretext of providing job, has allegedly been gang raped by six men in Mehrauli area of south Delhi, police said today. According to police, the 19-year-old girl, in her complaint said that she hails from Kathmandu and worked as a domestic help in Panipat in Haryana where she earned Rs 5,000 per month.

In Panipat, she met a couple Ranju and Amit two months ago, who allegedly told her that they can help her get a better job in Delhi following which she came here and started living with them in south Delhi's Khirki Extension. After a few days, the couple allegedly pushed her into prostitution, said a police official.

"According to her statement, last Sunday, the victim was asked to go to the house of one Subhash in Saidulajab near Mehrauli. There she was forced to consume alcohol after which Subhash along with five others allegedly took turns to rape her. The girl managed to escape from the house in the wee hours of Monday," the official said. The girl then approached the police and lodged a complaint with Mehrauli police station, following which the couple, Ranju and Amit, was arrested.

The girl is now undergoing treatment for injuries sustained in the sexual assault at AIIMS. Further investigation was on and police was looking for other accused, the official said.
