Tamil parties protest against Salman Khan for supporting Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa

Tamil parties staged a protest outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan's residence on Sunday and raised slogans against him for campaigning for Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa. The angry supporters, who carried posters in their hands which read 'Khan supporting a war criminal Srilankan president Rajapaksa', demanded an apology from the actor for hurting the sentiments of Tamils.

"We are doing this because he did not think about 20 crore Tamils. In the 2009 war around three lakh people died, he did not think about them. He went ahead to campaign for Rajapaksa along with his heroine Jacqueline Fernandez," an angry protestor said.

"We used to be a big fan of Salman Khan whenever any of his films used to come up in Mumbai. Now with his acts he has hurt us and we have removed him (Salman Khan) from our hearts. He shouldn't go to Sri Lanka. We will protest until Salman Khan apologizes," he added.

According to reports, over ten people have been taken into preventive custody by the police following the incident. Salman has earned the ire of political parties in Tamil Nadu for agreeing to campaign for Rajapaksa in the upcoming elections to be held in Sri Lanka. The Bollywood actor accompanied his co-star Jacqueline Fernandez to Colombo to campaign for Rajapaksa.
