Swine flu: 3 deaths, 24 new cases reported in Telangana

Three more deaths from swine flu and 24 new cases of the H1N1 virus have been reported in Telangana, the state government said in Hyderabad on Friday.

Three more deaths from swine flu and 24 new cases of the H1N1 virus have been reported in Telangana, the state government said in Hyderabad on Friday.

"In the current year from January 1 till February 19, 3,649 samples have been tested, out of which 1,186 were found to be positive and number of deaths because of other complications and swine flu as on date are 49," a bulletin on swine flu here said.

The bulletin issued on Thursday put the number of deaths at 46. It said 78 samples were tested on Thursday and 24 of them have been found positive for the virus. The number of positive cases reported in the last six days (up to 19 February) showed a decline in intensity, the bulletin said, adding, "The figures are 23, 37, 25, 30, 34 and 24."

However, citizens are advised to take precautions and report to hospital on appearance of the first symptoms of the virus like high-fever, sneezing, cough and body pain, it said. Sufficient stock of medicines is available at different hospitals and there are also enough testing kits, it said.
