The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), which received a drubbing in the recent Lok Sabha elections, on Thursday said it is organising rallies across Maharashtra in order to "re-energise" party cadres ahead of the upcoming state Assembly polls.

"We are organising rallies and meetings with our party workers across Maharashtra to encourage them to work hard and win the Assembly elections once again for the fourth time," NCP state unit chief Sunil Tatkare told reporters here.

The Sharad Pawar-led party had organised a rally in this regard on July 1 at Palghar in Thane. Another rally is scheduled in Ahmednagar tomorrow and a similar one will be held in Kalyan-Dombivili area of Thane on July 5. A rally is also planned in Jalgaon on July 6.

The party will focus on reaching out to the masses by highlighting the achievements of the Congress-NCP government in the last 10 years, Tatkare said. "We will be meeting party workers of all levels during our rallies and encourage them to whole-heartedly fight the Assembly elections. We will also take the party's and the state government's achievements to the people," he said.

"We will also be encouraging a healthy dialogue between our party workers to boost their morale and ensure that we strengthen our party roots," Tatkare said, adding that Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar will be present at all rallies.

Taking a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Tatkare said people will now realise that the promises made by him during election rallies are hard to fulfill. "Modi kept on saying that acche din aane waale hai.
(Good days are about to come). But where are these good days? When will they come? After coming to power, the BJP has hiked fuel prices, rail fares have shot up as well. Even the prices of vegetables have gone up. People will now realise the truth behind the promises made by Modi during his election rallies," he said.
