A Special CBI court on Thursday issued fresh summons to David Syms, an alleged partner and director of AgustaWestland 'middleman' Christian Michel's firm after he failed to before the court on Thursday. The summons were issued against him and two other firms, Global Services FZE and Global Trade and Commerce Limited.

Special CBI Judge Arvind Kumar adjourned the hearing for September 18. A charge sheet was also filed against Syms and two firms -- Global Services FZE and Global Traders. Syms and Michel are both directors of the two firms.

Michel also informed the court that he was being fed boiled vegetables and in the last five months he had lost about 16 kilograms of weight. The Judge also directed the jail authorities to provide doctors, general medical checkup and food. Michel also stated that he is sharing Jail no 1 with a murder accused who smokes weed (ganja) in the jail. Michel also requested the court if he could be served Western breakfast including cheese, bread. Michel also requested if he could be allowed to go to the church for an hour every Sunday.

The court has summoned jail authorities on Friday. The judge has also asked the jail doctor to submit a report in connection with Michel's health.

Michel was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on December 22, 2018 after his extradition from Dubai. He is among the three alleged middlemen being probed in the chopper scam by the ED and the Central Bureau of Investigation. The others are Guido Haschke and Carlo Gerosa.

The Enforcement Directorate had, on April 4, filed a charge sheet against Michel in the court, in which it claimed to have traced the trail of 70 million Euros that had come allegedly in the form of "kickbacks" in the Rs 3600-crore VVIP chopper deal. In the supplementary charge sheet submitted before Special CBI Judge Arvind Kumar, the agency had named two firms, besides David Syms as an accused in the case.

On April 6, after taking cognisance of the supplementary charge sheet filed by the ED in the money laundering case, the court had summoned Syms and two other firms to appear before it. However, Michel, through his counsel Aljo K Joseph, moved the Delhi court on April 5 claiming that he has not taken any names before the ED.

He also alleged that the central leadership was using government agencies to suit their "personal agendas".
