Six persons, including three policemen, were injured following a communal clash over a petty issue at Pachora town in the district, police said on Thursday.

Tension gripped Pachora, about 50 kms from the district headquarters, when some youths of Hindu and Muslim community passed comments on each other last evening while passing through the Jamner road near a Jain temple in the area, Pachora police station inspector R M Gadhe said.

The goups indulged in a scuffle in which three Muslim youths, residents of Mullawada-Pachora, were seriously injured, he said. On getting information about the clash, Pachora police personnel rushed to the site. Security was also deployed in the area during the night and the mob was pacified, he said.

However, tension flared up again this morning and a fresh clash occurred between members of both the communities. A mosque was also ransacked by some youths and there were incidents of stone-pelting by both the groups. They also set afire four motorbikes, two cars and a tempo, police said.

Three police constables were injured in the incident, Gadhe said. The situation in the town is now under control, he said. Based on the complaint filed by three injured youths yesterday, a case has been registered under relevant sections, he added.
