Opposition parties have raised their voices against PM Narendra Modi ahead of his Varanasi visit on Friday. Students wing of the Samajwadi Party from Benaras Hindu University have put up banners and hoarding making sarcastic comments over the 'unfulfilled promises' made by Narendra Modi during the LS polls in 2014.
A poster that can be widely seen in Varanasi on Friday says, "Modi ji, you are welcome in Kyoto." Varanasi according to critics hasn't seen much development in terms of infrastructure particularly roads and electricity and the poster is a sarcastic take on Modi's promise to transform the face of the city.
Other posters target the prevailing inflation situation. Some of them take a dig at Narendra Modi's foreign tours. It says, "Zamini haqiqat se hain janaab aap door, kitna kijiyega pradhan mantri ji videshon ka tour?" The literal translation would mean - Mr. Prime Minister you are far from the ground reality and your foreign tours are not going to help it.
Most of these posters have been put up by the BHU convener of Samajwadi Party student wing, Rahul Raj.
