Samajwadi Party's criticism 'purely political': UP Guv Ram Naik

Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik on Monday described as "purely political" his criticism by Samajwadi Party and said it was below his dignity to respond to it.

"It's purely a political statement made by him. And it is below my dignity to respond to political statements," Naik said after SP National General Secretary Ram Gopal Yadav today dubbed him as "an RSS worker", miffed at his remarks over the law and order situation in the state.

Yadav said Naik's statement was against the spirit of the Constitution and wryly suggested he be made a Union Minister so that he can fulfill his "communal agenda".

Naik had on Sunday said that incidents of communal disturbances in Uttar Pradesh are due to "very poor" law and order situation in the state..
