Accusing Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje of corruption, senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot on Saturday said the state government is being run by liquor, land and sand mafia.

"No government in Rajasthan had ever patronized the mafia. Only the Raje-led government did that. Land, liquor and sand mafia flourished in only because of government officials. I believe the money has reached up to the top," Gehlot said in Udaipur.

This is not the first time that Gehlot attacked the government officials. The minister had written a letter to chief secretary DB Gupta in September, requesting him to stop 'misuse' of government funds and machinery for political programmes.

Earlier, in May Gehlot had stated the staff were working under pressure and therefore indulging in unlawful orders given by Raje government.

He alleged that in five years the BJP government had only weakened the schemes launched by the former Congress government. There were 25 lakh people engaged in MGNREGA during the Congress regime, he said, adding that now the number has reduced to just 2.5 lakh.

Gehlot said the government has spent crores on Resurgent Rajasthan and now the government should disclose that how much was invested in five years. The Resurgent Rajasthan summit was held in 2015 to attract investment here.
