Practice makes great leaders, says Dr Ramcharan

Practice is the only thing that makes great leaders and transforms an ordinary athlete into a champion, said renowned business consultant Dr Ramcharan in his address on the concluding day of the 23rd International Management Conclave organised by Indore Management Association (IMA).

Termed as the 'most influential consultant alive' by Fortune magazine, Dr Ramcharan mentioned five habits that a manager needs to practise to become an efficient and successful manager.
'Clarity in decisions, laser sharp dominant priorities, recruiting right people, reviews of every business activity and follow through of business decisions are the most important habits that one should practice to become a successful and efficient manager', said Dr Ramcharan.

Addressing the gathering on the theme of the conclave--- Leadership now-Work the Talk, he said that leaders deliver results instead of just making claims. "'Leaders always get the things done and define clearly what is to be done next and ultimately get it done," added Dr Ramcharan.

Later in the event, managing director of Apollo Hospitals, Dr Preetha Reddy in the first business session emphasised on self-belief to overcome the hurdles in life and bring forth a change. "It is very essential that one identifies his capabilities as it will help him to accomplish his goals easily and efficiently" added Dr Preetha.

She further stressed on identifying one's calibre to attain success not only ion professional life but in all spheres of life.

In the valedictory session of the conclave, Retd Lt General of Indian Army, Syed Ata Hasnain, spoke on the internal security challenges faced by India and the possible solutions. He also emphasized on the reasons behind the internal security threats and urged the youth to perform efficiently in their respective fields and make the nation proud.

"The internal security threat is much bigger threat than the one outside the borders of the country.
And to solve this, the economy of the country should be improved so as to bring peace and stability," said Lt Gen Hasnain. Urging the managers to work at ground level, he said that true leaders are the one who works at the ground level.

Later, renowned spiritual guru, Swami Avdhesanand Giriji emphasised on positive thinking and said that it can solve every problem of a man. "Positive thinking is the only key to success and can remove all sorts of fear from the mind of an individual," said swami Giriji.

Dr Ramcharan was awarded the 'IMA lifetime global excellence award- 2014'. In the Young Manager Competition, Jaipuria Institute of Management was declared winner followed by Cummins as the 1st runners-up and Gabriel India limited as the 2nd runners-up
