BJP national president Amit Shah today claimed the party is based on principles with its internal democracy intact and said those outfits which do not have these qualities cannot work for the country's welfare.
Addressing a gathering of prominent people from different walks of life in Rajasthan, he said the BJP government does not take decisions that gives a feel-good factor but which are good for the people and it has helped the country to progress fast.

Referring to Ujjwala scheme, shutting down of shell firms, policies to close black money's entry route into the country and the surgical strike, he said, "A party should have policies for the welfare of the people and the BJP is one of them."
"We are working to reform policies that lead to the country's transformation," the BJP national president said.
He said the BJP has given a corruption-free government at the Centre whereas everyone knows about scams of crores of rupees during the previous Congress-led UPA dispensation.

"Today, a tea-seller from a poor background is the country's prime minister and a booth level worker of the party is its national president because of its internal democracy and principles," Shah said.
"Those parties which do not have strong democratic values and principles, cannot work for the welfare of the country," he said, adding, "We should evaluate and do a comparative study before mandating any party to power." The BJP government at the Centre took 50 big decisions in last three years, which the previous governments could not take in 50 years, Shah claimed.

"It shows the difference in governance. When we came to power 60 per cent people did not having bank accounts. Today, 28 crore people have bank accounts," he said. Claiming that the BJP is one of the few parties that has both principles and is democratic, Shah said these two qualities have made the party the largest in the country.
He said the party constituted by a handful of people now has 11 crore members.

"Everyone knows who will be the next President of the country, but there is no clue who will be the next President of the BJP after me," Shah said.
Speaking about BIMARU states, he said some states were termed as such because of financial indiscipline and administrative disaster.

Appreciating the schemes initiated by the Rajasthan government, Shah said, "Due to the administrative acumen of the the BJP government in the state, it has become a prosperous. The party has shown how a government should work. Soon, Uttar Pradesh too will lose the BIMARU tag." Addressing the gathering, Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje said the BJP has shown the path of good governance.

"People in the world have trust in the BJP government today. People see India with hope," she said and exuded confidence that Rajasthan will be congress free in the next Assembly election scheduled at the end of next year.
