Union home minister Rajnath Singh on Friday accused Pakistan of using the social media to incite youths in Kashmir to storm encounter sites and pelt stones on the security forces to help holed-up terrorists. He also held a meeting with top officials to review the security and development of the troubled state.

Responding categorically to the concerns raised by Trinamool Congress MP, Saugata Roy and other members in Lok Sabha over the death of three civilians in Budgam firing by security forces, Singh said, “I believe that our youth of Jammu and Kashmir who pelt stones on security forces are being misguided by some Pak sponsored forces inimical to India.”

“...The group that operates different social media applications like Facebook and WhatsApp to mobilise youth is based in Pakistan,” said Singh adding that the security forces will continue to give a befitting reply to terrorists and infiltrators in Jammu and Kashmir and also expressed confidence that India will defeat all forms of terrorism.

To take stock of the Budgam incident and coming summer months, the home minister also convened a high level meeting of top security officials saw participation of National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Intelligence Bureau chief Rajiv Jain.

Besides reviewing security situation of J&K in the light of increase in the intensity of violent protests, the meeting also deliberated on the disbursal of Prime Minister’s relief package of Rs. 80,000 crore.

Sources said the meeting was of the view that with the part release of Rs. 17,000 crore from the relief package will help put the troubled state on an accelerated path of recovery and also help dissuade youth from joining violent agitations.
