Over 74 lakh women expected to vote in Haryana polls

More than 74 lakh women are expected to exercise their franchise in the upcoming Haryana assembly polls as against over 87 lakh men and all of them have been issued the Electronic Photo Identity Card (EPIC).

"As on July 31, there are a total of 1,62,60,139 voters. 87,78,288 are male voters in the state and 74,81,851 female voters," Haryana's Chief Electoral Officer, Shrikant Walgad said here today.
He said the EPIC coverage was 100%.

Meanwhile, when asked to comment on media reports that the elections for the 90-member Assembly may be held by mid-October, Walgad said the Election Commission of India would announce the dates soon.
The term of present Assembly ends on October 27.
