National Security Adviser Ajit Doval has reportedly had a meeting with Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh in the national capital on Friday.

According to television reports, the meeting was reported to have focused on the agenda likely to be taken up during Monday's talks with Mr. Sartaj Aziz, Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's Adviser on Foreign Affairs and National Security.

Friday's meeting came as the official spokesman of the Ministry of External Affairs said that India has advised Pakistan about the inappropriateness of Aziz meeting Hurriyat representatives in New Delhi on August23.

Vikas Swaroop, the Official Spokesperson of the MEA, stated: "India has advised Pakistan yesterday that it would not be appropriate for Mr. Sartaj Aziz to meet with Hurriyat representatives during his visit to India as it would not be in keeping with the spirit and intent of the Ufa understanding to jointly work to combat terrorism. We have also sought confirmation of our understanding of the agenda for the NSA-level talks that was conveyed to the Pakistani side on 18 August 2015."

The Pakistan Foreign Office has said that it will not shy away from talking with leaders from Kashmir.

Congress leader Manish Tewari on Friday asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi whether he wa to hold the India-Pakistan NSA-level talks on August 23 and 24.

"Mr. Prime Minister you need to tell the nation, are you under international pressure to talk to Pakistan. If you are under pressure, who is pressurizing you to talk to Pakistan. It is very obvious that Pakistan does not want to to talk to you, because they have not taken a single step in Ufa in order to create an environment which could be considered conducive for talks," asked Tewari. Tewari maintained that the central government was making an absolute joke of itself with regard to its engagement with Pakistan.
