New timing for Change of Guard at Rashtrapati Bhavan

The timing for the Change of Guard ceremony that takes place every Saturday at Rashtrapati Bhavan will change March 15 onwards, it was announced Thursday.

The ceremony will now take place between 8 a.m. and 8.40 a.m. from March 15 to Aug 14, as against the earlier schedule of 10 a.m., a statement here said.

The ceremony, a military tradition, is held in the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan and involves the periodic change of guard, when a fresh unit of troops takes charge.

Opened for public viewing in 2007, the ceremony was revamped and relocated in December 2012, after President Pranab Mukherjee assumed office to make it visually more appealing and public-friendly.
