NEET to be held across India on May 7, announces CBSE

Medical aspirants should gear up as the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Friday announced the date of the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) for admission to MBBS/BDS courses. The test will be conducted on May 7 in 103 cities across the nation.

Medical aspirants should gear up as the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Friday announced the date of the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) for admission to MBBS/BDS courses. The test will be conducted on May 7 in 103 cities across the nation. 

There is a significant rise in the number of candidates appearing for NEET this time. “41.42% more candidates have registered for NEET this year. This is the highest number of registered candidates for NEET Examination so far,” CBSE said in a statement.

“Looking into the substantial increase in a number of registered candidates this year, the Minister of Human Resources and Development, Government of India increased 23 new cities in the list of 80 existing examination cities,” it added.  

"A total of 11,35,104 candidates will appear for the examination. The medical aspirants can select the city of their choice between March 23 to March 27. They can log on to NEET website - http://cbseneet.nic.in for revising their option of cities chosen earlier,” it said.

Besides, more than 2200 institutions will be made centers based on their credibility, reliability, and infrastructure. These centers will be time tested to ensure smooth conduct of examination, the CBSE said.

Successful candidates will be eligible for taking admission to all the MBBS/BDS course in medical/ dental colleges, which operate with the approval of Medical Council of India/ Dental Council of India.
