Money withdrawn from retired police officers bank account

A retired police officer has filed a case here against officials of nationalised bank alleging that more than a lakh of rupees was withdrawn from his bank branch without his knowledge or consent.

Retired Deputy Superintendent of Police Nurul Islam in his police complaint alleged that Rs 1,30,754 was withdrawn from his State Bank of India, Haibargaon branch account between June 25 to July 23 this month without his knowledge and consent, the police said.

He further alleged that he failed to receive any SMS alert during the last one month in his registered mobile phone number when the money was withdrawn from his account.

The bank, however, denied any bank officials involvement in the withdrawal of the amount and decided to start an inquiry into the allegations.
